Hired at Royal Recorders 64-Track digital recording studios in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.at the age of 21, Bartz quickly began mastering his craft on Major album projects with such artists as Bon Jovi, Cheap Trick and The BoDeans along with producers Roy Thomas Baker, Harold Faltermeyer and Jerry Harrison. His talents in advanced digital sound design had Bartz quickly promoted to first engineer. He soon began engineering and producing on various projects along side fellow bizzarist Adrian Belew for a new group UV.
During slow booking periods at the studio, Bartz began to record and develop his own exotic guitar music that was to attract the attention of Peter Gabriel keyboardist, Larry "Synergy" Fast.
Larry Fast signed Bartz to the Audion Recording Co. and saw the release of Bartz digital debut, "Pictures of Earth & Space". The CD was met with acclaim and hailed for its unique signature of innovative sonics and adventurous composition, JAZZIZ Magazine stated "P.O.E.A.S. is the most impressive debut we've heard in quite some time".With Larry Fast commenting in a Reflex Magazine interview "Bartz does things sonically without conventional instruments -but also without immersing himself in a bank of sequencers and synthesizers. It's so well crafted and produced through very skillful use of excellent equipment."
After the sudden demise of Audion just 3 months into bartz' debut momentum, Bartz dropped out of the contemporary music scene to focus on constructing a prototype of a new musical instrument. Bypassing offers to engineer live sound for the BoDeans and to become a staff producer for New Age giants Narada Records, Bartz focused all his energies in bringing his new instrument 'TheStringStation'.to life. The now completed instrument prototype reveals a wide selection of 40-strings and joined with Bartz strange alliance with advanced electronics, has him discovering some stunning original new music to be revealed on his upcoming Fourth CD release.
The year 2000 finds Bartz progressed in his talents and ready, after years of woodsheding to showcase the power of the StringStation. Still searching for the right situation to record this futuristic instrument in full 'SurroundSound' glory for a DVD debut. Bartz also appears as guest guitarist along with Daryl Stuermer and Marshall Crenshaw on founding member of the Violent Femmes latest CD Victor Delorenzo's 'The Blessed Faustina' adding some of what CosmikDebris.com called "powerful panoramic visions". This spring Bartz has finally made available for the first time 2 unreleased follow-up CDs to his p.o.e.a.s. debut. 'Build Your Own Planet' and 'Evolver/cosmic guitar experiments vol.1. Available in a First Edition Signed release.
