In the Austrian Alps
A very long time ago. I was riding
my little Harley Sportster up into Austria, approaching Innsbruck.
After following a plow (up-hill) for quite a long time, I made it to a
little town called Kufstein, where I had the grand luck to cross the trail
of one of the world's gentlemen.
Being detained by the weather turned
out to be my great good fortune, because I became enchanted with the hospitality
I found there so deeply and wonderfully that I keep some of the images
to this day.
More significantly, though, I cherish the
character, craftsmanship, and dignity of
'the Professor' Claus Josef Riedel.
This little window is high up on a castle
right in town. Not a bad vista. The time is the winter of 1967/68,
and that snow is deep in the valley, even for these Tyrolian experts.
As I digitize them with my new "Snappy"
(see Technical specs page) I will add some of my ancient images to this
page.
